When it comes to the labor market, Norway is famous for their trade unions, favorable workers` rights, and most of all, high salaries. The wages are typically given to you on a monthly basis and on the same date each month. Minimum wages have been established in various industries to prevent foreign labors from a lower income and working conditions than is usual in Norway. 2. Insurance in Norway
Norwegian law states that all employees must be covered by occupational injury insurance i.e. the Workers`compensation insurance” (https://www.if.no/en/commercial/insurances/person-insurance/workers-compensation). This means that the insurance covers accidents that have occurred on the way to work, or from work or if you get diseases caused by work.
3. Working hours in Norway
Ordinary working hours in Norway are 40 hours per week and 8 hours per day. These hours must not exceed. It's normal that employees have collectively agreed to 37.5 hours per week. 4. Norway offers a FAMILY-FRIENDLY environment
Norway offers an excellent parental leave system where the parental benefit period is 49 weeks (15 weeks are reserved for each parent with 100% coverage or 59 weeks (19 weeks are reserved for each parent) with 80% coverage. Families also benefit from the right to day-care. Employers are flexible and understanding with their employees.
5. Everyone speaks English in Norway!
As long as you have basic English skills you are good to go. Almost everyone speaks English in Norway which makes it easy to communicate. Norwegians love to practice their language skills and are also very helpful and patient if you are practicing the Norwegian language.
